Vishwanath Sajjanar is the Cyberabad Police Commissioner whose men on Friday killed four alleged rapists arrested last week for the rape and murder of a veterinarian, is not new to encounters. Sajjanar is a native of Hubli in neighboring Karnataka.

Priyanka Reddy was born in 1993 and from Hyderabad, India. She was a veterinary doctor was found dead with her Body partially burnt under Chatanpalli bridge in Shadnagar on Thursday morning. On November 27, 2019, her body was found burnt under the Chatanpalli bridge.

According to the police report she was raped, smothered and then burnt by four men who are said to hailing from Narayanpet. Four people were detained by the Cyberabad police on Friday. They were identified as Mohammad Areef (driver), Jollu Naveen (cleaner), Chennakeshavulu (cleaner), Jollu Shiva (driver).

The police said that the accused who were consuming alcohol at Shamshabad toll plaza saw Priyanka parking her scooter and hatched the plan to rape her. And one of them (Jollu Naveen) punctured the rear wheel of the doctor’s scooter which was parked at a place.

When the doctor returned to take her scooter at around 9.18 pm, she realized one of the tires got punctured. The prime accused Areef then approached on the pretext of getting the scooter fixed. Another accused Jollu Shiva took her scooter, on the pretext of getting it repaired, and came back after some time and told her that all the repair shops were closed.

The police said that the accused then raped the girl who died because of accused had covered her mouth and nose while committing the crime. The accused then wrapped the dead body in a blanket and took it to Shadnagar and burnt the body.

Cyberabad police commissioner VC Sajjanar said, “Our officer took them into a patrol vehicle and scanned the CCTV footage. The victim was also seen in the CCTV footage of the plaza. At around 3 pm, the family was brought back to book an official complaint. Till 5 am, we searched all puncture shops. The body was found at around 7 am.”

On November 6, 2019, Vishwanath C Sajjanar, the Cyberabad police commissioner and his team encountered four alleged rapists.

Vishwanath Sajjanar Career

Previously, he was involved in the Warangal ‘encounter’ of December 13, 2008, where three youths, allegedly involved in the acid attack on two girls, were shot dead. Shakamuri Srinivasa Rao (25), Potharaju Harikrishna (22) and Bajjuri Sanjay (22).

Vishwanath Sajjanar is an MBA graduate, who after clearing the UPSC exams in 1996, had joined as an IPS officer in the Telangana cadre. Vishwanath Sajjanar was brought up in Hubballi and completed his education from Lions English Medium School in the city and B.Com at JG College of Commerce.

Later, he completed his MBA from the Kousali Institute of Management Studies, Karnatak University. Vishwanath Sajjanar is a 1996 IPS batch officer. Sajjanar was also known for his role in the killing of Naxal leader Nayeemuddin when he was the IG Special Intelligence Branch.

Vishwanath Sajjanar elder brother Vishwanath Sajjanar who is a medical practitioner in Hubballi has been receiving congratulatory calls since morning. Visitors, who have been expressing their happiness, too flocked to his doorsteps. His father C B Sajjanar, of Pagadi Oni in Hubballi, was a tax consultant and social worker.

In an Interview, he said “As a citizen of the country, I am happy with the police decision. My brother is an active police officer and it was in recognition of his service that he was made the police commissioner of Hyderabad.”
