Betsy Rothstein
Betsy Rothstein was 28 years old controversial gossip blogger at The Daily Caller who mainly covered Washington, D.C. politics. On June 28th she passed away after a long bout with cancer.
Her death was confirmed by her brother Joel on Facebook tribute, he wrote “It is with unimaginable grief that I must inform you that my little sister Betsy Rothstein died a long illness later today. She passed peacefully surrounded by family and wonderful friends. I will be returning home to Akron, Ohio to be next to our mother and father. If you are so moved, please consider a donation from the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance.”
Besty family and colleague tributed her on social media. Olivia Nuzzi, a political reporter for New York magazine, wrote a tribute to Rothstein, whom she described as a friend and “a professional thorn in the side of Washington media figures.”
Career
She began her career with journalism in Cambridge, Massachusetts, working for a Cuban newspaper where she conducted man-on-the-street interviews.
Later, she worked at the Boca Raton News as a business reporter followed by a brief stint as a press secretary for former Rep. Robert Wexler. Talking about her education she graduated from Union College with a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish. She earned a Master’s degree at Medill School of Journalism.
Curently, she served as the Reporter at The Mirror Blog at The Daily Caller, from December 2009 to October 2013, Betsy served as the Editor at Mediabistro’s FishbowIDC.
