DJ Gio has passed away in a fatal shooting. According to Fox40, DJ Gio was one of the victims in a deadly shooting in the Sacramento neighborhood of Natomas early Sunday. Following the heartbreaking news of his passing, tributes have poured in for the well-known and prominent Sacramento and Bay musicians.
Many people who knew or worked with DJ Gio have offered heartfelt tributes to him and shared treasured recollections. The incident occurred just one day after a person was shot and murdered at a home party in Elk Grove. Six people were murdered, and 12 were injured in a mass shooting in downtown Sacramento a week later.
Mervin Brookins, head of the charity mentoring program “Brother 2 Brother,” discussed how such events might be avoided. DJ Gio was honored with a candlelight vigil in the neighborhood, and many others paid respect to him on social media.
