Peter Gallagher was born on August 19, 1955, in New York City, United States of America. He is an American Actor, Musician, and writer who is best known for starring in the television drama series ‘The O.C.’ as Sandy Cohen from 2003 to 2007.

Peter was raised in Armonk, New York and after completing his High School he enrolled in Tufts University and completed his graduation in BA. During his college, he was active in theatre and also appeared in shows as Stephen Sondheim’s Company and singing with the all-male cappella group called Beelzebub’s.

The Actor has made his debut in the film ‘The Idolmaker’ by Taylor Hackford and also appeared on Broadway in ‘The Real Thing’. Peter got fame after appearing in an independent drama film titled ‘Sex, Lies and Videotape’ (1989) where he appeared in the role of Steven Soderbergh. Later in 1992, he starred in Broadway hit of Guys and Dolls in 1992.
The other movies in which Gallagher appeared are ‘The Player’ in 1992, ‘While You Were Sleeping’ in 1995, ‘American Beauty’ in 1999 where he played the role of real estate salesman, ‘Mr. Deeds’ in 2002, and ‘The Last Debate’ in which he starred as a political reporter exposing media ethics during a political debate.
Later Peter Gallagher got more recognition for starring as Sandy Cohen in the American Teen Drama Television series ‘The O.C’ where he played a role of Jewish public defender and corporate lawyer.
The actor also hosts an annual award ceremony titled ‘The Sandy Cohen Awards’ or ‘The Sandys’ in honor of his character on ‘The O.C’ show and it gives a scholarship to law school student who wants to become a public defender.
As a musician, he released an album in 2005 titled ‘7 Days in Memphis’ on Sony BMG label and he also video for his single ‘Still I Long For Your Kiss’. For Peter’s exceptional work in the field of media and entertainment, he received ‘P.T. Barnum Award’ from Tufts University in 2005 and also received ‘Light on the Hill’ award at Tufts University in 2007.
