Ananth Kumar was born on July 22, 1959, in Bangalore, Karnataka. Ananth Kumar has passed away on November 11, 2018, he was fighting lung cancer for some months but unfortunately passed away in private hospital in Bangalore after taking treatment from London. He started his career with RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) and later he was also the member of ABVP (Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad). During Indira Gandhi Government when Emergency was imposed on India during that time he was arrested along with other few students.

Furthermore, he was elected secretary of ABVP and later he was appointed as National Secretary in 1985. He was the First Indian Politician in 1998 to have an Independent website named www.Dataindia.com and www.Ananth.org.
In 1996, he was elected to 11th Lok Sabha from Bangalore south, later he was re-elected to Union Cabinet minister for Civil Aviation by Atal Bihari Vajpayee and he was youngest Union Cabinet minister in that government. Furthermore, he was president of Karnataka state BJP unit in 2003.
