Anthony Schinella

Anthony Schinella was 52 years old from Arlington, Virginia. He worked for the CIA for 30 years and was the national intelligence officer for military issues.

On June 14th, he shot himself in the head outside of his home in June, according to the source the CIA has conducted a secret investigation of his death. Virginia medical examiner’s report revealed that his cause of death as suicide from a gunshot wound to the head.

Anthony was married to his wife just a week earlier before he killed himself, during that time Anthony’s wife Sara Corcoran who is a Journalist said she was in her car in the driveway, trying to get away from Schinella when she witnessed his suicide.

Later, Sara revealed that soon after this incident CIA entered Schinella’s house and removed his passports, his secure phone, and searched through his belongings but till now CIA spokesperson declined to comment for this story.

Furthermore, just before few hours Anthony took out a gun and spent two hours threatening to kill himself and Sara felt that she was in danger, so she took their newly adopted kitten and fled the house but after a few seconds, she heard gunshots.

In an interview, Sara told “I’ve never heard a gunshot that loud before, I’m going to need therapy for the rest of my life,” and “He was so upset that I’d escaped. I put the car in park, screaming, I knocked on the neighbors’ door and called 911. He was pronounced dead on the scene.”

Sara Corcoran who is a Washington Journalist also revealed that Anthony wanted to her kill her, too, she said “My husband was planning on murdering me. He had talked about taking me to the afterlife before,” and added, “I didn’t call 911 at first because I was afraid he would shoot himself and me.”

Who is Anthony Schinella?

He was a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a graduate degree from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, Schinella had spent much of his career in the CIA before joining the National Intelligence Council.

She also published a book titled “Bombs Without Boots,” in 2019 where its a study of the limits of the uses of air power in modern war, and it was published by the Brookings Institution, a Washington think tank.

Talking about his career, Anthony was the highest-ranking military affairs analyst in the U.S. intelligence community. Furthermore, he was also a member of the powerful National Intelligence Council, which is responsible for producing the intelligence community’s most important analytical reports that go to the president and other top policymakers.

He shot himself just weeks away from retirement after a 30-year career in the CIA and he had been suffering from stress after being involved in four wars. His suicide came less than two weeks before that Russia paid bounties to the Taliban to kills US troops in Afghanistan.

The National Intelligence Council is now under the control of the Director of National Intelligence, John Ratcliffe drafted a memo saying the intelligence about the bounties was inconclusive.

Tim Kilbourn, a friend and former colleague of Schinella, described him to the Intercept as an “American patriot” and said his death was a “tragedy.”
