Bas aka Abbas Hamad is a Sudanese-American rapper and signed to J. Cole’s Dreamville Records via Interscope Records. Bas was born to Sudanese parents in Paris in 1987. His family relocated to New York City when he was eight years old. In Queens, New York, he attended St. Francis Preparatory School.

Cole and Cozz and the Hics make cameo appearances on the album. The album entered the Billboard 200 list at number 49, selling 10,965 copies in its first week. A music video later accompanied each song on the album.
Bas released the one-off single “Pinball II” with Correy C on April 10, 2018. On June 19, he released the first song off his third album, “Boca Raton,” which featured ASAP Ferg. His second single, “Tribe,” featuring J. Cole, was released on August 22. On August 24, 2018, Bas released his third album, Milky Way. Bas said in late 2018 that he was working on an album with frequent collaborators, The Hics, which is expected to be released in late 2021 or early 2022.
