Brett McGurk
Brett McGurk was born on April 20, 1973, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States of America. Brett H. McGurk is an American diplomat who served as Special Presidential Envoy for Global Coalition to Counter ISIS. He was appointed on October 2015 by the former President Barack Obama and was recently resigned his position on December 22, 2018.
The US envoy has resigned his position because of Donald’s Trump decision to withdraw troops from Syria. Brett McGurk is said to be one of the few appointees of Obama to work under Trump. With his resignation, the defense secretary, James Mattis also announced his departure.

Brett McGurk has completed his schooling from Conard High School in Connecticut and later he attended the University of Connecticut and earned his degree in Bachelor of Arts. He has also done Juris Doctor from Columbia Law School. Barry McGurk is the father of Brett and is an English Professor and his mother name is Carol Ann Capobianco, is an Art teacher.
When Brett McGurk was at Columbia, he worked as a senior editor for Columbia Law Review, during his graduation. After his graduation, he served three clerkships at the federal judiciary, on the U.S. District Court for Southern District of New York, U.S Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and for U.S Supreme Court. After serving for three consecutive clerkships for a couple of years, he worked as Legal Advisor for CPA (Coalition Provisional Authority) in 2004.
After a year, Brett McGurk was transferred to National Security Council, where Brett served as Director for Iraq. In 2013, he was appointed as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Iraq and Iran. McGurk has testified before the House Armed Services Committee about the emerging threat of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.
Brett has supported major counter-ISIL operations in Syria and Iraq, returning the exiled to their homes. With the Donald Trump Administration, McGurk was retained in his role leading the counter-ISIS campaign and was officially announced by Sean Spicer (Trump’s press secretary) on January 2017.
Recently, Brett McGurk has stated that the war against ISIS in Syria is not over and it would be reckless if we were just to say, the physical caliphate is defeated. When passed a decision to withdraw his troops from Syria on December 22, 2018, McGurk announced his resignation from his post which is effective December 31, 2018.
Brett is married to Gina Chon and the couples have a beautiful daughter named Leia. He has not shared much information about his family and has kept it low profile.
