Chris is the best to know for playing Alex Miller on the NBC sitcom Whitney, Danny Burton on the NBC sitcom Undateable, and Kenny on the ABC television series The Good Doctor.
Recently, he has been accused of “grooming” underage girls and asking for nude photos, among other offenses, by dozens of women. In 2015, Simone Rossi, an Arizona State graduate, tweeted about an alleged online interaction she had with comedian Chris D’Elia and said D’Elia “groomed” her for sexual interaction, and that the only reason she and D’Elia did not get involved is that she had a boyfriend at the time.
Later, in the tweet, Rossi also claims that the comedian used his age to his advantage, and while she was embarrassed about it, she thought it was “a funny story to tell at parties.” However, she said she decided to speak out over concerns that he could still be doing it, before calling out Netflix for casting him in You.
In a follow-up tweet, Rossi shared screenshots of her alleged interaction with D’Elia (shown below), “imagine being 16 and being groomed by a stand-up comedian twice ur age and the only reason you never met up and never got physically m*lested was because u had just gotten a boyfriend ur own age.” However, he has not responded to any of these claims yet.
Career
In 2019, he appeared as Henderson in the Netflix thriller series “You” were its an American psychological thriller television series developed by Greg Berlanti and Sera Gamble. This series premiered on Lifetime on September 9, 2018, in the United States and streaming on Netflix internationally on December 26, 2018.
He started his acting career during his High School days and played small parts on Chicago Hope. At the age of 25, he pursued stand-up comedy as his career, then he featured on Comedy Central’s Live at Gotham, Comedy Central Presents, and Showtime’s Live Nude Comedy. Later, Chris was introduced to a broader audience as a regular on the series Glory Daze, which ran for one season on TBS, playing “the Oracle”, William Stankowski.
Chris co-starred in the NBC comedy series Whitney, opposite comedian Whitney Cummings, for two seasons. From 2012 to 2015, he was one of the three hosts of the Ten Minute Podcast. In 2013, D’Elia’s first one-hour stand-up special, White Male Black Comic, aired on Comedy Central and in the same year he released his debut parody rap album, as MC “Chank Smith”, called Such Is Life (produced by Mr. Green).
Later, he had three subsequent comedy specials: Incorrigible (2015), Man On Fire (2017), and No Pain (2020), all of which aired on Netflix. All four were directed by his father.
