Deirdre Imus was born on August 4, 1964 and from Waterbury, Connecticut, U.S. She is an American author, health advocate and radio personality and the founder and president of the Deirdre Imus Environmental Health Center. Deirdre was the spouse of Don Imus who was an American radio personality, television show host, recording artist, and author.
He passed away at the age of 79 after being hospitalized since Christmas Eve. He died at Baylor Scott and White Medical Center in College Station, Texas, after being hospitalized since Christmas Eve, according to a statement issued by his family. Deirdre, his wife of 25 years, and his son Wyatt, 21, were at his side, and his son Lt. Zachary Don Cates was returning from military service overseas. Imus is also survived by his four daughters Nadine, Ashley, Elizabeth and Toni.
His family released a statement that reads “Don loved and adored Deirdre, who unconditionally loved him back, loved spending his time watching Wyatt become a highly skilled, champion rodeo rider and calf roper and loved and supported Zachary (Cates), who first met the Imus family at age 10 when he participated in the Imus Ranch program for kids with cancer, having battled and overcome leukemia, eventually becoming a member of the Imus family and Don and Deirdre’s second son.”

Don Imus was known for his radio show Imus in the Morning which aired on various stations and digital platforms nationwide until 2018. He attended broadcasting school in the 1960s and secured his first radio job in 1968 at KUTY in Palmdale, California.
Three years later, he landed the morning spot at WNBC in New York City but he was fired in 1977. Then, he returned to WNBC and stayed at the station until 1988 when the show moved to WFAN. Don Imus gained widespread popularity when the show entered national syndication in 1993. He was labelled a “shock jock” radio host throughout his later career.
However, he retired from broadcasting in March 2018, after nearly 50 years on the air.

Deirdre is an American author, health advocate and radio personality and the founder and president of the Deirdre Imus Environmental Health Center and she is also a co-founder and co-director of the Imus Cattle Ranch for Kids with Cancer, and the author of two books, Greening Your Cleaning and The Imus Ranch: Cooking for Kids and Cowboys.
On May 7, 2007, she was named to the board of directors of the National Autism Association. Later, on May 22, 2007, the National Audubon Society announced that Deirdre Imus was one of four women to receive the Society’s annual Rachel Carson Award for Women in Conservation.
Apart from this Deirdre appeared on the NBC Today Show on April 6, 2007, to demonstrate the cleaning methods discussed in her book. A scheduled book tour was postponed, however, in the wake of the controversy surrounding the cancellation of the Imus in the Morning show.
She played small acting roles as Deirdre Coleman, appearing in Form, Space & Murder in 1997 and also she appeared in Watchers Reborn and One Tough Cop, a movie about New York City detective Bo Dietl, who is a frequent guest on her husband’s show. In 2001, she had a role in Directing Eddie.
On May 24, 2007, Pace University awarded an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree in recognition of her advocacy on behalf of children’s environmental health and in the same year she was awarded the Rachel Carson Award by the National Audubon Society.
