Gretchen Whitmer was born on August 23, 1971, and from Lansing, Michigan. She is a 49th governor of Michigan since 2018 and American Politician, on March 10th she declared state emergency after COVID-19 outbreak and has become a divisive figure for her ongoing response to the coronavirus.

After the Corona Pandemic outbreak, Gretchen has issued 47 executive orders related to the coronavirus and till now united states has reported 40K deaths. However, when the order was extended and restrictions tightened in April, and eight-hour protest against the restrictions organized by the Michigan Conservative Coalition.

After graduating from University she ran for the Michigan House of Representatives in the 1990s but she didn’t succeed, then in 2000, she was elected to represent the 23rd legislative district. Later, in 2002 and 2004 she was re-elected to that position.

In March 2006, she became a State Senator and also represented in 2006 and 2010. Democratic colleagues in 2011, chosen Whitmer to the Senate Democratic Leader and this made her the first woman to lead a party caucus in the Senate. Furthermore, she represented that role for three more times until 2014 and she left the office in the year 2015. Later, on March 11th, 2016, Whitmer was unanimously selected to serve the remaining six months of the term of outgoing Ingham County Prosecutor Stuart Dunnings III by the judges of Michigan’s 30th Judicial Circuit Court.

Stuart Dunnings III was arrested on March 14, 2016, and he was charged with 11 counts of involvement with a prostitute and four counts of willful neglect of duty. In her six months serving, she issued an 11-page report on whether Dunnings’s alleged criminal activity had affected cases handled by the office but her term expired on December 31, 2016.

Whitmer than announced that she will run for 2018 Michigan gubernatorial race against Republican Bill Schuette and she defeated Schuette in the November 6 election by nearly a 10-point margin. In 2016, Donald Trump was Michigan by fewer than 11,000 votes and received a total of 2,279,543 votes from Michiganders and on another hand, Whitmer received only 13,000 fewer votes than Trump in her 2018 gubernatorial election.

As a Governor Whitmer focused on healthcare and infrastructure and she is the national co-chairwoman of the Joe Biden 2020 presidential campaign, In a debate on March 15, Joe Biden committed to selecting a woman as his running mate.
