Then, she said “And basically, we froze,” and told, “Because then we were in a position where we weren’t sure if what we were going to give to the Department of Justice, or what we give to you guys, what we start saying, was going to be used against us while we weren’t sure if there was going to be an investigation.” Later, she added, “That played a very large role in this.”
Derosa continued “So we do apologize, I do understand the position that you were put in. I know that it is not fair. It was not our intention to put you in that political position with the Republicans.”
Who is Melissa DeRosa?
She was introduced to politics by her father at the age of 8, DeRosa is the daughter of prominent longtime lobbyist Giorgio DeRosa who is a partner at Albany lobbying firm Bolton-St. Johns.

In 2013, she joined the New York state administration as communications director and was promoted two years later to the chief of staff. In 2017, she rose to the level of a secretary to the governor.
With the help of Governor Cuomo DeRosa, she steers statewide policies including the $15 minimum wage, paid family leave, and expanded insurance coverage for in vitro fertilization and egg freezing.
