Tom Kirdahy was born on June 18, 1963, and from Hauppauge, New York. He is a Lawyer and Olivier Award-winning theatre producer. Tom was married to Terrence McNally and on March 24th, Terrence McNally passed away from coronavirus complications at the age of 81.

Terrence was four-time Tony Winner and was one of America’s great playwrights and in his career, he has written more than Three Dozen plays. Furthermore, he is the best know for his Tony award-winning plays Master Class and Love! Valour! Compassion!.

Tom Kirdahy is an Award-Winning Broadway and West End Producer, additionally, Tom is also a lawyer. In 2019, he was the recipient of CTI’s Robert Whitehead Award for Outstanding Achievement in Commercial Theater Producing.

As an Attorney he served two decades providing free legal services to people living with HIV/AIDS and served for many years on the Executive Committee of the NYC LGBT Center. In an Interview, he once said “At the time the AIDS crisis was getting worse. A great number of my friends were getting sick and dying. I felt that I needed to do something about the crisis that was decimating my community.”

Apart from this Tom is also a huge LGBT activist and developed projects at Gay Men’s Health Crisis and Bronx AIDS services. Previously, he also served as the chairman for the East End Gay Organization, curently Tom sits as Chairperson for Broadway League Government Relations Committee.

Tom is also a founding director of Berwin Lee London New York Playwrights, Inc and it was created to promote and foster the art of play-writing in the U.S. and the U.K. While working as Lawyer he also produced Anastasia, Head Over Heels, Mothers and Sons (Tony nomination), It’s Only a Play, and The Visit (Tony nomination) on Broadway, and The Inheritance (Olivier Award for Best New Play), The Jungle, Master Class, and Edward Albee’s The Goat, or Who Is Sylvia? in the West End.

Recently, he produced the musical, Hadestown in 2019 and it has won 8 Tony Awards. Additionally, Tom also produced the Olivier Award-winning play, The Inheritance and Little Shop of Horrors. Then, he went on to produce Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune, starring Audra McDonald and Michael Shannon.

On June 26, 2015, they renewed their vows after the Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriage in all 50 states. This couple was married for almost 16 years and Tom’s Husband was diagnosed with lung cancer and was under long medication but the Covid-19 virus took his life.
